Half-titles in vols. I and III (lacking the second). 155 hand-colored lithographed plates by W.E. Hitchcock and R. Trembly after J.J. and John Wodehouse Audubon (some scattered pale darkening, outer margin on some plates trimmed closely, browing to endpapers, plate 71 and 72 with short marginal tear, light marginal dampstaining to vol. II ). Contemporary black half morocco spines gilt (restoration to spines and corners). Provenance : Murphy and Co, Baltimore (bookseller's label on front paste-down); Camarillo California, St. John's Seminary (blindstamp on titles). FIRST OCTAVO EDITION, of Audubon's final great work.
