Half-titles in volumes 1 and 3 only. 500 plates after Audubon, by W.E. Hitchcock, R. Trembly and others, printed and colored by J.T. Bowen, with wood-engraved anatomical diagrams in the text. (Some spotting, mostly marginal and to text leaves, a few leaves browned, light dampstain at top of later leaves in volume one, title-page for volume one with tear and mounted). Original publisher's brown morocco, edges gilt (some light rubbing, a few hinges cracked, recased, endpapers renewed).
