(Without the half-titles in volumes 6 and 7, some scattered foxing to text, heaviest in the first two volumes, some very pale dampstaining and browning in volume 6.) 500 hand-colored lithographic plates after John James Audubon by W.E. Hitchcock, R. Trembly and others, printed and colored by J.T. Bowen, wood-engraved anatomical diagrams in text. (Plate 233 printed out of register, with number crossing upper image, otherwise in generally fresh condition.) Modern green three-quarter morocco, green cloth boards, t.e.g., by Sangorski & Sutcliffe. Second "octavo" edition, A FINELY COLORED COPY OF AUDUBON'S BIRDS .
