Autograph Book: Charles Stewart Parnell and others. An outstanding letter and autograph book apparently compiled by Thomas Breen, containing three ALS to Breen from Charles Stewart Parnell, 1878-81, acknowledging a subscription, regretfully declining an invitation to dinner, and arranging a meeting, with a fourth ALS to the Secretary, Hibernian Bank, enclosing a cheque for Parnell's account, and another to Breen in a secretarial hand signed by Parnell, also two detached slips with Parnell's signature; and other letters and autographs including Thomas Francis Meagher, Richmond Prison , New Year's Day 1849; Charles Gavan Duffy, Newgate Prison, Sept. 1848; William S. O'Brien, Richard O'Gorman, Daniel O'Connell (autograph slips); Charles Dickens a good signature on mourning paper dated 1848; Francis Mahony ('Father Prout'), autograph slip, also a good ALS dated May 1852 on Globe notepaper concerning a picture; an autograph note from Cardinal Newman offering a subscription to the Cork Society of St. Vincent de Paul 1882; a Biblical quotation signed by (Fr.) Theobald Matthew; banknotes issued by Hibernian Bank (2), Cork Bank (2), two early United States dollar bills (laid in towards rear); a Dail Loan receipt 1921; and many other interesting items. Some items lightly mounted with cellotape, otherwise generally in very good condition, in a small quarto full morocco gilt album.
