AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION. A collection of letters addressed to members of the Estcourt family of Estcourt, Gloucestershire, approx 1672-1861, primarily family correspondence to or by the parents and siblings of Thomas Grimston Bucknall Estcourt, MP (d.1853), but also including letters by
AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION. A collection of letters addressed to members of the Estcourt family of Estcourt, Gloucestershire, approx 1672-1861, primarily family correspondence to or by the parents and siblings of Thomas Grimston Bucknall Estcourt, MP (d.1853), but also including letters by: Henry ADDINGTON, 1st Viscount Sidmouth (4, in 1816 referring to savings banks and the property tax, in 1830 complaining of the mounting grip of 'the Vis Inertiae', and in 1831 reviewing the malaise of the country; and two by the 2nd Viscount), and Warren HASTINGS (19 October 1792, offering thanks for a present and an expression of support); approximately 95 letters altogether (some of the family letters soiled and worn); with a collection of approx 140 assorted manuscript leaves and fragments (mostly literary, some contained in a commonplace book of Harriet Estcourt, or relating to Estcourt family history), and approx 25 related items, mostly portrait engravings; contained in six albums or portfolios, some loose.
