A fine collection comprising documents with the signatures of AUTHORS AND ARTISTS including Rudyard KIPLING (1912, a contract with the dramatist Roland Pertwee), George Bernard SHAW (two autograph postcards signed, to Mrs [Maud] Clarke, 18 May 1928, and to Horace Jackson, 30 August 1940, refusing to have his play Getting Married 'stolen ... by the Jewish gentleman [Jesus]'), H.G. WELLS (two autograph correspondence cards signed , 'I wish I could help but I haven't the spare energy', and another declining to commit himself), James Fenimore COOPER (cheque signed, 1836), Leo TOLSTOY (signatures in English and Russian), H. Rider HAGGARD (letter signed, 1906, 'I don't think I will "drop into poetry"'), W.
