Autograph letter. SAND. Lettera sul romanzo Lélia. Autograph letter. SAND, George. 1804-1876. On verso authentic signature of Luigi Calamatta 1801 - 1868, Italian engraver, Sand's father-in-law, since his daughter Lina married Maurice, the writer's son. Good condition.
Important signed autograph letter, sent to an unknown recipient. The letter concerns the reworking of the novel Lélia, a lyric and symbolic work, part of the novels called "feminists" by George Sand The work was published in 1833 and later, profoundly changed and augmented, it was re-edited in 1839. In this letter the writer refers directly to the different ending she has in mind, and to the reasons that motivate it: in the new edition, in fact, Lélia, become abbess, will succeed in creating a harmonious society in a convent. On July 15, 1836 an extract of Lélia appeared in the Revue des Deux Mondes accompanied by the facsimile of this letter.Cfr.
