Babe Ruth Signed 1923 World Series Game 6 Ticket Stub - PSA/DNA Graded MINT 9 The 1923 World Series was special for several reasons. It pitted New York's, as well as baseball's, two top teams against one another - the defending champion Giants vs. their cross-town rivals (and former Polo Grounds tennants) Yankees. The Bronx Bombers were a team that boasted that season's best record having played in the new Yankee Stadium (baseball's largest venue), and boasted the most feared hitter in Basaball, Babe Ruth. However, the Yanks had yet to win their first World Championship, losing to the Giants in the past two Fall Classics. But the power balance of New York baseball shifted in Game Six of the 1923 World Series. More than 36,000 fans plus a full contingent of the New York press corps (including a relative of this lot's consignor) were on hand. The confident Yanks marched into the Polo Grounds, home of the defending champs. Ruth set the tone when he smacked a home run in the first inning (Babe's third for the series) and the Bombers won their first championship. This box seat ticket stub from Game 6 is signed by Ruth. The Babe's signature is located on the one place on the entire ticket that is clear and ideal for its display. The stub itself is in excellent shape with a small degree of paper loss. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA with a signature grade of MINT 9. A letter of provenance from the family of the New York sportswriter attending the game accompanies this lot. Additional LOA from JSA.
