BASAN, Pierre François (1723-97). Collection de cent-vingt estampes, gravées d'après les tableaux & dessins qui composoient le cabinet de M. Poullain . Paris: Basan et Poignant, 1781. 4° (294 x 215mm), additional engraved title and 118 plates (of 119, lacks pl. 61), a few 2 to a page (occasional light foxing), LATE 18TH-CENTURY RED STRAIGHT-GRAINED MOROCCO BY KALTHOEBER, spine ornately gilt in compartments, Greek key border round sides enclosing, on either side, a roll of ten leafy plants surmounted by a fleur-de-lys on which stands a bird, at the head four stylised oval floral tools enclosed by tulip swags, at the centre a pendant lyre, at the foot 2 mermaids holding a vase with circular decoration tapering back to the corners, gilt edges.
