Battle of Britain. A WWII Hurricane seat attributed to Hurricane V7497 shot down by Me109s on 28 September 1940, the reconstructed aluminum seat of a fragile nature rivetted and with operating lever, there are some stamped serial numbers in three places, as follows 'G500 0770 1 H1085', 'V 6119', 'N W 4384 H358 D93004/20 4 RC16', 80cm high, a fine and interesting crash excavated relic (Qty: 1) Provenance: Private collection having been purchased from a Battle of Britain specialist dealer. No supporting documentation, therefore, attributed to Hurricane V7497 which crashed at Chartway Street, East Sutton on 28 September 1940. The aircraft was flown by Pilot Officer Everett Bryan Rogers 501 Squadron who was shot down by Bf109s and Rogers baled out, unhurt. Earlier in the month on the 15 September, Rogers had shot down a Do17. He later served with bomber command being awarded the DFC as an acting Squadron Leader with 640 Squadron. V7497 was discovered in the 1990s by a group of metal detectorists and later sold to Peter Kirkpatrick. The aircraft was recently restored by aircraft restoration and historic motorsport specialists Hawker Restorations and is now on display at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford.
