Brussels: P.J. de Mat, 1818, sale 13 April 1819. 2 volumes, large 8 o (229 x 136 mm). Original blue glazed boards, printed paper labels on spines, uncut. Baudewyns was, according to the "Notice Historique" in vol. I, professor of syntax at the college founded by Maria Theresa of Austria, "de glorieuse mémoire," from 1777 until the French occupation in 1794. His library, a very fine scholar's collection, was especially rich in belles-lettres, the classics, and neo-Latin poetry, including some important incunabula and many sixteenth century editions. The compiler, Plaisant, was an advocate who later published books on Belgian law. This appears to be a special copy, printed on heavy paper. Blogie I, col. 64, stating that the sale took place in 1819. (2)
