To which is added, a Sketch of a South-Sea Whaling Voyage, 2nd edition, John van Voorst, 1839, half-title, 3 wood-engraved plates including frontispiece, sections a few leaves roughly opened, 2 sections probably from a bookplate (John Wilson Kingston, Jamaica) mounted to title-page partially obscuring text, ink-stamp of Ruthin School to front free endpaper, contemporary half calf, richly gilt spine, head of front joint cracked, large 12mo (19 x 11.4 cm) (Qty: 1) Ferguson 2709; Hill 89; Sabin 4108. The work was first published in 1835 in an edition of 133 copies, and was an important source for Herman Melville's Moby-Dick. Provenance: Library of Colin and Joan Deacon.
