Beschreibung:

BERNARD LANCY (1892-1964) GRIFFON. 46 3/8x30 1/4 inches. Affiches Gaillard. Condition B+: repaired tears, restored minor losses and creases in margins and image; vertical and horizontal folds; pencil in bottom margin. Lancy is primarily remembered as a master of the French movie poster. In his twenty-five year career he designed some classics like Les Enfants du Paradis and La Grande Illusion . Before he began specializing in the cinema he designed a few commercial posters, such as this one. It is a propulsive image of a Griffon bike at full speed, with sophisticated Art Deco typography. The rider is hurtling through a modernist landscape, over a red road and past interestingly abstract tress.
