Provenance : Christoph and Anna Went (booklabel dated 1796, and manuscript genealogical details on front endpaper). Third edition of the earliest Bible printed in a European language in America, this edition was known as the 'Gun Wad' Bible, as unbound sheets of the 3000 copies printed were used to make cartridges during the American War of Independence.
