BIBLE, NEW TESTAMENT IN GREEK. Tes kaines diathekes hapanta. Noui Testamenti omnia. Basel: Thomas Platter, March 1538. 8° (167 x 98mm). Ruled in red throughout, four woodcut devices of the Evangelists on title, text in Greek, historiated woodcut initials, headpieces, colophon on verso of Bb6, with the blank Bb7, large architectural woodcut device of the publisher Johann Schabler with his initials and bearing the motto ‘durum pacientia frango’ on Bb8v. (Lacking the first blank *8, outer margin of title closely shaved, light spotting.) Contemporary calf ruled in blind and gilt, double rectangle on sides, each with floral cornerpieces, double lozenges at centre, the inner one with floral cornerpieces (re-hinged, head and tail of spine chipped, extremities rubbed).

Platter’s first edition of the Greek testament, his second edition was published in 1540.
