BINDING-LOUISE ÉLISABETH D'ORLÉANS, wife of LOUIS I of Spain] Office de la Semaine Sainte Latin et Francois ... Paris: Gregoire Dupuis, 1726. Full French dark red morocco, covers with the arms of Louise Élisabeth d'Orléans after her marriage to Louis I of Spain, framed with a triple fillet, spine gilt in compartments with raised bands with a fleur-de-lys in each compartment, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers. 6 5/8 x 4 inches (17 x 9.5 cm); engraved frontispiece, 725, [3] pp. Minor wear to spine, one corner rubbed, small loss to edge of frontispiece. Louise Élisabeth d'Orléans was one of the seven daughters of Philippe II, Duke of Orléans. Before marriage, she was she was known as Mademoiselle de Montpensier. When she married the Infante Louis, she became Princess of Asturias, and when he ascended to the throne upon the abdication of Philip V, she was briefly Queen of Spain. However, seven months later, he died of smallpox, and ultimately she returned to the French court. C
