Etched portrait frontispiece by Louis Schiavonetti after Thomas Phillips etched additional title captioned 'Subscriber's Copy' at the foot, and 11 plates by Schiavonetti after Blake. (Light browning on text, scattered light spotting, head of additional title trimmed, touching image, the plates facing pp.12 and 30 remargined.) Late 19th-century mottled calf gilt by Riviere & Son, the covers with triple gilt fillet borders joined by gilt floral cornerpieces, the spine gilt in 6 compartments divided by raised bands, gilt leather lettering-piece in one, the date gilt-stamped at the foot, the other compartments decorated with gilt urn tools within floral cornerpieces and rolls, roll-tooled gilt turn-ins, top edge gilt, others uncut (Lightly rubbed, a few scuff marks, short split on lower joint.) FIRST EDITION, SECOND ISSUE. A SUBSCRIBER'S COPY, ONE OF 688. Bentley Blake Books 435B; Keynes Blake 81.
