Lot of 7 broadsides and handbills from black-owned transgender club Bojangles (alt. Bo Jangles). Located in “Polk Gulch” at Larkin and Ellis Street, the center of the LGBTQ+ community in San Francisco from the 1950s to the 1980s. It was on Polk Street where San Francisco’s first Pride parade was held in 1972. Bojangles is listed consistently in San Francisco’s queer publications including a directory and calendar in Kalendar Vo. 2 No. 3 March 1973. Bo Jangles. [San Francisco], [1971?].
