Collection of Boer War memorabilia, obtained by Major G.F. Ellison, comprising "Original draft of orders for the battle of Colenso. G.F.E.", in pencil on pages torn out of a military order book, two minute photographs showing Boer positions sent out of Ladysmith, both with receipt slips signed by Captain Percy Scott (of naval gun fame), when commandant at Durban; a message written on skin obtained from Ladysmith Hospital (ink perished); Buller's telegram announcing Cronje's capture, docketed "Received on hill above Tugela about 11.30 AM on 27.2.00 as Genl Lyttelton, Colonel Bruce Hamilton and I were waiting for Sir C. Warren's attack on Boer left near Pieter's Station to develop. G.F.E.", a duplicate message from Botha to Hamilton "Received under flag of truce"; and other material, secured by pins in two glazed early twentieth-century display cases, unexamined out of their mounts
