Included here are a mathematical essay, a description of the solar eclipse of 25 July 1748, a discussion of the aurora borealis, a paper on a geometrical method of determining the hours of high and low tide, and two papers on optics, the first on solar light, and the second an analysis of Newton's discussion in the Opticks (1704) of the properties of light that produce the colors of the rainbow.
