Boston & New York, Houghton Mifflin and Company, 1906. 6 Vols. With 12 hélio-engraved frontispieces (of which 6 HAND-COLOURED) after i.a. J.-B.C. Corot & D.G. Rossetti and 36 engraved plates (printed on JAPANESE PAPER) after John Flaxman 4to (ca. 26,5 x 18,5 cm.), early 20th-cent. unif. half-morocco with gilt(-lettered) ribbed spine, top edges gilt. (6x) ¶ One of 650 Arabic numb. copies of the DE-LUXE EDITION printed on LARGE PAPER by “The Riverside Press” with a double suite of 6 hélio-engr. frontispieces (of which one suite hand-coloured). Complete set of Dante’s “The Divine Comedy” translated & annotated by the American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882) illustrated with 32 engraved plates after the English artist John Flaxman (1755-1826). Ex bibliotheca Ricardo Augusto Caminos (ca. 1916-1992, Argentine Egyptologist) with his collector’s mark & inventory-number on the index-leaves. – A few imperfections (spines discol., bindings sl. rubbed/ worn along extremities, second free end-paper at the rear in vol. I loose, occ. sl. foxed/ browned), but nevertheless an attractively bound set.
