Courtney & Smith note that the fourteenth volume of Johnson's Works, issued by Stockdale, 'appears to be very rare. Not the least point of interest is that it reprints in part the Proposals for the edition of Shakespeare which were issued with the Miscellaneous Observations on Macbeth in 1745, and have recently been rediscovered'. Stockdale later issued a fifteenth volume containing Lobo's Abyssinia.
