A fine group of early photographs of India from Bourne and Shepherd, purchased by Augustus Fortunatus Bellasis (1822-1872) during his government service in India as Magistrate of Surat. The photographs were purchased with a view to illustrating a book documenting his time in India, but Bellasis died before the project reached fruition.
