BROADSIDES, Criminal -- The last dying Words, Confession, & Behaviour of Wm. Martinborough, (a Black) Who was executed this Day (Friday, March 20, 1795) at the New Drop, (New Gaol, Exeter,) For the Wilful Murder of Henry Smith Carpenter, on board the Ship Hind, commanded by Capt. Mudge . Exeter: S. Woolmer, [1795]. 217 x 199mm (small stains, small tear in top rule). Not in ESTC. Martinborough was born in St Kitts in 1778 and came to England in 1794 and was employed as a servant to Captain Mudge of the 'Hind'. He apparently 'demeaned himself with the utmost Propriety, good Humour and praise-worthy Behaviour' until, succumbing to the 'dangerous and fatal Effects of Passion', he murdered the ship's carpenter with a 'Carving-Knife'. A Particular Account of the Life and Behaviour of Elizabeth Marsh Who was Executed ... at Dorchester, on Monday the 17th March, 1794, for the Barbarous and Inhuman Murder of her Grandfather, John Nevill, at Morden, near Wareham . [?Dorchester: 1794], (310 x 218mm), woodcut vignette headpiece. Not in ESTC; An Account of The Behaviour and Execution of David Morgan & John Watkins ... at Dorchester, On Saturday the 8th of August, 1807, For uttering and putting away Bank of England Notes, Forged and Counterfeit .
