Glahn's early work, featuring foliate scrollwork that forms a seamless design giving the appearance of a 1-piece construction. The masterful symmetry of the engraving completely disguises the normally apparent joint between the frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. Nickel-plated, 4 - 3/4" barrel, chambered in .45 LC caliber. 2-line barrel address and patent dates on the frame. 2-piece checkered black hard rubber grips. Accompanying Colt Archival Letter dated February 25, 2003, signed by Kathleen J. Hoyt Historian documents configuration, factory engraving. Shipped to Tritch Hardware Company in Denver Colorado on January 5, 1924 in a single gun shipment. CONDITION: Near mint overall. 98% bright original nickel. Engraving is sharp and crisp. Bore is bright and clean. Cylinder chambers are bright. Appears unfired. Grips show little to no wear. Given to a son as a Christmas gift in 1924 this incredibly high condition, factory engraved Colt has remained essentially pristine for the past 97 years!
