Second Generation Single Action Army manufactured by Colt during the first year of production. Left side of barrel is stamped "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45" with the left side of the frame bearing patent information followed by the Rampant Colt logo. Features include a blued barrel, trigger guard, and grip straps, case colored frame, standard Single Action Army pattern front and rear sights, as well as 2-piece Colt checkered black plastic grips. Mainspring has been professionally replaced by Bob Munden. Matching numbers are present on the frame and grip straps, with the grips matching via a hand-scribed number on the interior of the panels. Matching assembly numbers are present on the frame, loading gate, and cylinder. Accompanying this revolver is a Colt factory letter indicating that this revolver was shipped to Zork Hardware Company in El Psa, Texas on March 15th of 1956, as well as a letter signed by Becky Munden of Munden Enterprise, Inc. that indicates that Bob Munden timed the action, improved the trigger pull, installed custom springs for a lighter and stronger action, honed the forcing cone, as well as sighted in this revolver in March of 2000. A paper target plate accompanies the Munden Enterprises, Inc. letter, exhibiting six bullet holes and featuring Bob Munden's personal notes on the right hand indicating that he sighted this revolver in on 03/30/2000. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their original factory applied blue finish, exhibiting some spots of wear, thinning, as well as some scattered handling marks overall. Grip straps retain traces of their original finish, with the balance turning a gray patina. Frame retains strong case colors, showing some small spots of oxidation as well as several scattered handling marks. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Grips show a few handling marks, but are otherwise fine. An attractive example of a first year production Second Generation Colt Single Action Army revolver that has been custom tuned by famed exhibition shooter Bob Munden.
