Lot consists of (A) British No.4 MK1 Lee Enfield bolt action rifle with bayonet. Made 1942 at what looks to be Maltby. "ENGLAND" export marked on the left side of the socket. Socket, bolt, and fore stock are matching. Fore stock was forced match though. Magazine is not numbered, but is British production. British proofs on the chamber with tonnage markings on the barrel. Bolt head is numbered "2". Original blade front sight and a "MK3" flip up rear tangent. Blued finish on the metal components. Magazine was cleaned and then lacquered. Wood stock has a light oil finish. Metal trapdoor butt plate. Includes an original khaki sling and a Savage production No.4 MK II bayonet with scabbard/frog. CONDITION: Metal retains 80% of its finish with general wear and handling marks. Stock has minor dings and scratches. There is an arsenal repair on the right side, just above the trigger, and on the comb at the top of the butt plate. Bore is shiny with crisp 2 groove rifling. Mechanically fine. Sling has slight wear. Bayonet and scabbard have general wear and patina. Tip is still sharp. Frog is excellent. (B) Lithgow No.1 MK III Lee Enfield SMLE bolt action rifle with bayonet. Made 1940 at the Lithgow factory in Australia. Left side of the receiver is marked "FTR 1953" on the left side. Export stamp on the left side of the socket. Matching serials on the receiver, bolt, barrel, fore stock, and rear sight. Rear sight was forced matched though. Band is marked "DP". "(Crown) / BNP" on the chamber. Blade front sight with rear tangent adjustable to 2,000 yards. Magazine looks to be later production. Arsenal reapplied black enamel finish on most of the metal components. Stock was lightly sanded and has a light oil finish. Brass trapdoor butt plate. Includes a British 1907 pattern bayonet and scabbard looking to be dated "18". British proofs on the ricasso. Handle and hilt have a black finish. Scabbard was painted green at some point. CONDITION: Metal retains 80% of its arsenal reapplied black finish with some wear. Stock has dings, scratches and dents. There is a 2" repaired crack on the right side of the fore stock. Rear hand guard has arsenal repairs. Bore is clean overall with crisp rifling. Mechanically fine. Sling is excellent. Bayonet is good overall, having normal surplus wear. Blade has not been sharpened. Wood grips have a few handling marks.
