The reverse of the blade engraved in a similar fashion with flowing vines, foliate scrolls a panoply of arms and with the letters USC (US Cavalry) as the central motif. The ricasso is etched C. Sword is accompanied by it correct pattern gilt brass mounted, browned metal scabbard with two suspension rings and a prominent lap seam along the lower edge.
