Scarce Winchester Model 70 bolt action magazine rifle in standard weight configuration made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1946. Winchester blued Proof Steel barrel with hooded ramp front sight, 22 G rear (plugged), and Lyman 48 receiver sight with barrel marked on underside "8MM 42". Barrel marked "7.92M/M" on left side. This caliber is listed as verified by original factory rifles according to Rule. Matted finish clover leaf tang action with rear bridge not drilled, front bridge drilled with 2 holes, stripper clip slot with solid bolt handle bolt with rifle serial number "54697" electropenciled on bolt, and pre-war style 3-position safety. Blued quick detachable floorplate and trigger guard with blued sling swivels. Walnut low comb 18 line-per-inch checkered pistol grip stock, factory cut for Lyman 48, and has steel checkered Widow's Peak buttplate. CONDITION: 90% barrel blue with some case wear near bore. Action has 90% finish with bolt handle showing some handling wear. 90% floorplate blue with corners turning silver. Wood lightly cleaned with some handling marks. Bore is excellent with good mechanics. Rifle is an honest rifle in a hard-to-find special order caliber.
