Catherine Greene (b.1960) Dedalus Bronze, 74cm high (29'') Signed 2009, edition 2/5 Exhibited: Cross Gallery, Dublin. Catherine Greene is an established figurative sculptor best known for her works in bronze, but more recently she has been working in mixed media. Her versatile output ranges from large scale public pieces to private commissions and from large exhibition works to smaller sculptures which explore the figure in the context of the sensual and often surreal world which they inhabit. Dedalus was part of a body of work that was first exhibited in the Cross Gallery in 2008. Major commissions include the equestrian memorial of the patriot Thomas Francis Meagher in Waterford, the Memorial to the much loved comedian Dermot Morgan, Merrion Square Dublin; and the central alterpiece of the Crucifixion in the new Basilica, Fatima, Portugal.
