Caymus, Special Selection, Cabernet Sauvignon--Vintage 1985
10 bottles per lot
CAYMUS VINEYARDS Founded by Chuck Wagner in 1972, the winery was named after the Caymus Indians. Mr. Wagner came from an old Napa family who began farming in the region in the early 1900s. The first vines were planted in the 1940s and as most farmers did then, they simply sold their grapes. Finally Wagner decided the grapes were too good to sell and began making them into wine himself in 1972. The Special Selection Cabernet was first made in 1975 and quickly established itself as one of the regions finest wines. Today few would argue that little has changed: it is still a family business and still a great wine year after year. Caymus, Special Selection, Cabernet Sauvignon--Vintage 1985 Napa Valley Level: base of neck or better; one damp stained label "It reveals a lavishly oaked, smoky, jammy, blackcurrant-scented nose, sweet, round, glycerin-imbued, full-bodied flavors, and excellent purity, ripeness, and length." Robert Parker Wine Advocate #98 (Apr 1995) 10 bottles per lot
