A very good impression of this scarce lithograph. Locke was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and studied at the Ohio Mechanics Institute (later the Cincinnati Art Academy), and at the Art Students League with Joseph Pennell (1857-1926). He became a teacher at the Arts Students League, teaching lithography between 1922 and 1937. During the 1930s, he was engaged as a printmaker by the WPA.
