Château Margaux
Above 4 bottles per lot
A PRIVATE COLLECTION OF MATURE CLARET, INCLUDING MANY FIRST-GROWTHS, VINTAGES 1947 TO 1976 Lying in Weybridge, Surrey (EHD) Château Margaux Margaux, 1er cru classé --Vintage 1947 Bin-soiled and scuffed label. Level top-shoulder (1) --Vintage 1966 Levels: one upper and one mid/upper-shoulder (2) --Vintage 1967 Damp-stained label. Level upper-shoulder (1) Tasting Note: I was surprised at just how good the 1947 is because I had never been that impressed with most of the Médocs from that vintage. Among the first-growths in 1947, it is superior to Lafite and Latour, and just behind the great Mouton. Quite perfumed, rich, and full bodied, the 1947 Margaux is capable of another decade of evolution. Moreover, there is none of the volatile acidity or harshness that often creeps into many of the Médocs from that year. Robert Parker Bordeaux Book 3rd Edition (1998). Above 4 bottles per lot
