The '82 Margaux still retains a freshness and a youthful vibrancy at 27 years of age, and shows lively red currant fruit character, but of a high-toned nature - a really singing sort of fruit, overlaid with a subtle smokiness. On the palate the wine is very elegant, sophisticated, and satiny or silky as opposed to the velvety ripeness and density of the Latour.
