Chronographe tout à fait particulier, une pièce pour collectionneur Breitling d'une grande rareté. Breitling Leon G. Breitling S.A. Montbrillant Chronographe de poche avec, gravé au dos de la boîte: Larchmont (NY) Yacht Club «Miladi» N° 1948658. C'est un exceptionnel chronographe/chronomètre aurifié du célèbre horloger suisse Montbrillant (à l'époque le fabricant n'avait pas encore pris le nom de Breitling). Une prestigieuse récompense en l'honneur d'un bateau rapide et son propriétaire pour sa participation aux courses du Larchmont (NY) Yacht Club. C'est une montre de poche en or rose avec Wadsworth gravé au dos du boîtier, cadran blanc avec chiffres arabes. George W. Scott était le propriétaire du yacht nommé Miladi et un membre du comité des nominations du club dont il est devenu membre en 1893. On parvient à déchiffrer l'inscription "To Scotty The man who made Miladi famous from Charley Saint and Del." (A Scotty l'homme qui a rendu Miladi célèbre de la part de Charley Saint et Del.) L'inscription est datée du 25 juin 1915. Cette goélette de 70 pieds (21,33 m.) construit par Lally&Son, devait être assez exceptionnelle puisqu'un article du NY Times daté du 8 septembre 1914 titre: «MILADI LEADS LARCHMONT FLEET (Miladi mène la flotte de Larchemont), soixante-deux yachts sont en compétition dans la grande régate du jour dans la rade.» Au verso du boîtier on trouve le fanion de MILADI. Le mécanisme de la montre est fait en Suisse par MONTBRILLANT, comme gravé à l'intérieur ainsi que «11 JEWELS» (11 pierres) et «THREE ADJUSTMENT»... (trois ajustement...) Les dernières lettres disparaissent sous la bordure. Le boitier est signé Wadsworth Watch Case Co. Cette montre à été remise en état il y a un an (presque jour pour jour) par Ed Fasanella de Virginie reconnu dans le domaine de la restauration de montres anciennes. Toutes les pièces sont originales, il n'y a eu aucun remplacement. Photogaph 1.: «New York Times» 1915. Montbrillant Pocket Chronograph Larchmont (NY) Yacht Club "Miladi", engraved on the case back n°1948658. It's a spectacular gold-filled chronograph/stop watch by the famous Swiss maker, Montbrillant, before the company renamed itself as Breitling. This was a prestigious gift honoring a large fast boat and its owner for race activities with the Larchmont (NY) Yacht Club. A pocket watch in pink gold, Wadsworth engraved on the case back, white dial with Arabic numerals. George W. Scott was owner of yacht Miladi, and a nominating committee member of the club. He had joined in 1893. You may be able to see that it is inscribed "To Scotty The man who made Miladi famous from Charley Saint and Del." The inscription is dated June 25, 1915. The 70ft. schooner Miladi, made by Lally & Son, was a quite an exceptional racing boat, as a September 8, 1914 NY Times story indicates: MILADI LEADS LARCHMONT FLEET; Sixty-two Yachts Compete in the Big Regatta of the Day on the Sound. Reverse of watch case shows the MILADI pennant.. Watch works made in Switzerland by MONTBRILLANT, as inscribed inside along with "11 ELEVEN JEWELS" and "THREE ADJUSTMENT... (The last letters disappear under the watch rim). The case is by Wadsworth Watch Case Co. This watch was reconditioned almost exactly 1 year ago in VA by Ed Fasanella, whom I believe is significant in the antique watch maintenance field. It has all its original parts, no replacements.
