Cinquecento Gruppo A ufficiale Fiat Auto Corse 1997 VIN No. ZFA17000001041630 Engine Type: 176B2.000 - Official Fiat Auto Corse car, prepared in only 14 units for the prestigious Monte Carlo Rally of 1998. Fiat, as part of the international initiative that in the 1990s involved 8 European countries with the Fiat Cinquecento single-brand trophy, included, in addition to very rich prize money, the possibility to participate in an official way, with official cars, in the Monte Carlo Rally the following year. The first owner of the car was Fiat Auto Corse and then a private team, for 4 previous owners. The car is equipped with first number plates and logbook, CSAI (International Sporting Code) technical passport, homologation certificates of some racing components, Fiat Auto Corse technical data sheet and verification sticker of the 66th Monte Carlo Rally in the category Gr.A. It has covered 2,353 km of races participating in an official capacity at the Monte Carlo Rally, where it placed 28th overall and 7th in its category, preceding Lancer, Escort Cosworth, Celica and other rally queens, and then in other races of the Italian championship. - The official Fiat Auto Corse cars, based on the Cinquecento Sporting, were liveried in Ginestra yellow, like this vehicle, or red. Original paintwork, perfect condition for a car that has competed, Fiat Auto Corse livery, Abarth and sponsor livery, original. Additional lights, undercarriage guards and interior carbon floor, Speedline special alloy wheels on Michelin tyres, roll bar, Sparco seats, 4-point harnesses, OMP steering wheel, strut bar, fire extinguisher system, the car was never modified over the years and still meets Fiat Auto Corse specifications. Undercarriage in excellent condition. Non-valid MOT. - For official Fiat Auto Corse and Abarth, the 1.1 FIRE engine was tuned for a maximum power of 98hp at 7250rpm, the modifications also included Weber Marelli multipoint fuel supply, specific steel manifold and exhaust, 6-speed gearbox with dedicated bridge ratio, and special clutch. The suspension had a specific set-up; disc brakes on all four wheels, with an oversized system derived from the Fiat Punto GT. - The Fiat Cinquecento Trophy was a very popular championship: Fiat Cinquecento 899cc cars were equipped with an Abarth conversion kit and safety accessories, which were very easy to handle and reliable and proved to be an excellent springboard for talented young drivers. This championship also included, for the first time, a rookie category for those in their first season of racing. The trophy was immediately very popular at international level, not only because of the prize money and the possibility to enter the racing world with a reduced budget, but because winners of the respective national trophies in Europe, the first ones of under-23s, rookies and women's categories of the Italian championship took part in the Monte Carlo Rally with official Cinquecento Sporting Gr.A, prepared, entered and assisted by Fiat Auto Corse, like this proposed car. As in those days, this official Cinquecento, which is not a conversion kit, makes it possible to enter car racing with a limited budget that is well repaid by the car's characteristics and competitiveness, as well as its honourable sporting career.
