Lot of 32 real photo postcards pertaining to travel, including scenes captured both domestically and abroad. Landmarks of note include the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Mt. Etna, the Great Pyramids at Gizeh, and the Moku’aweoweo crater in the midst of eruption on January 28, 1949. Also with several images of colossal trees from California's Redwood Forest, as well as a postcard of Galen Clark, famous for his discovery of the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoia trees and for his role in securing legislative protection of what would become Yosemite National Park. Of particular note is an image of the House of David, a commune established in Benton Harbor, MI in the first decade of the twentieth century. Among other things, members were forbidden to shave or cut their hair, and the four men in the foreground at left all sport long beards. Two with one-cent revenue stamps affixed on verso to upper right corners, and one with magenta 8d stamp of Queen Elizabeth II, ca 1952. Condition: Corners and edges with general wear, including some minor creasing. One with yellow tape applied to vertical edges, while another bears adhesive residue at corners, suggesting display.
