COLOR PLATE] ROBERTS, DAVID. Egypt and Nubia, from Drawings Made on the Spot ... London: F.G. Moon, 1846-49. First edition. Three volumes bound as two, three-quarters red morocco, cloth sides. 24 x 17 1/4 inches (61 x 43 mm); volume I: full page lithographic title, 29 full page and 30 part-page tinted lithographic illustrations, and a map, with text; volume II: two full-page lithographic titles, 31 full page plates (should be 32) and 30 part-page tinted lithographic illustrations, with text. Some binding wear, but sound. Lacking one full page plate (Alexandria) from volume III, with the title page and frontispiece for volume II bound out of order at the front of the second volume. Some scattered spotting throughout as usual (generally not affecting the main plates), overall an attractive set. The work is more usually found in three volumes, though sets bound in two are by no means uncommon. This copy has 123 of the 124 plates indicated by Abbey; Alexandria appears never to have been bound in. The Albert May Todd copy, with his bookplates. Abbey, Travel, 272. C
