Title: Confederate States of America $1,000 Civil War Bond Author: Confederate States of America Place: Raleigh, North Carolina Publisher: J.T. Paterson & Co. Date: 1862 Description: State of North Carolina $1,000.00 bond #6466. Dated in ink 1 September 1862 and signed in ink by then Governor Zebulon Baird Vance and State Treasurer Jonathan Worth. Redated 1882 in ink. Includes 38 (of 40) $40 payment coupons signed in ink by W. H. Dodd, Raleigh mayor from 1882-1887. Coupons were redeemable each March & September from 1864-1882 (1863 coupons missing) with eight per cent interest on original investment. Decorative borders with vignettes of a 3-masted ship and allegorical women. 21x17, engraved on paper, blank back. Uncommon CSA and North Carolina signed document created to finance the State's share of its war debt. Lot Amendments Condition: Bold and unfaded signatures; original date faded slightly. Near complete with first two coupons cut away, paper loss and wear at edges, scattered folds. Very good. Item number: 180204
