.31 caliber with 5" octagonal barrel, double action percussion, blued finish with color case hardened frame & hammer, brass trigger guard and backstrap. Serial number 9948 on cylinder, 48 on loading lever and 944 on butt, obviously matching, but with the last digit omitted at the factory by a careless workman. Three line Frankford, PA address with patent marks on barrel. Varnished walnut grips. Condition: Good, barrel retaining most of the original blue, with frame retaining strong traces of case hardening. Brass with a deep umber patina. Grips in nice condition retaining most of their varnish, but showing high edge wear, bumps and dings. Not mechanically functional.
