Daum Nancy cameo table lamp
bureau au rognon. The kingwood, mahogany and satine trellis parquetry veneered desk having a superstructure surmounted by an 'amour guerrier' on a lion pelt above a French twin train clock with Roman and Arabic enameled dial, flanked by two acanthus scrolled candle arms with seated amours, centered by five short drawers and a pigeon hole. The desktop fitted with a sliding gilt tooled black leather surface over three frieze drawers, on foliate-hipped cabriole legs, terminating in scrolled sabots. Several mounts removed to reveal the mark "MB" from the bronze master model by Millet Bronzier. The bronze mounts are cast after designs by Leon Message, who worked exclusively for Millet, Linke, Zwiener and Roux et Brunet. Maison Millet, Paris, 1853-1918. 54"H x 45"W x 29"D, Circa 1900. Provenance: Sotheby's, New York, May 4, 1999, Sale N07302, lot 254.
