(Decorative Arts: Design since 1860, 23rd October 2019) MARGARET MACDONALD MACKINTOSH (1865-1933) 'DEUTSCHE KUNST UND DEKORATION', MAY 1902 magazine published by Alexander Koch, Darmstadt, with cover designed by Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh, later woven spine binding, pp. 365-418 . Literature: Garner, Phillipe (ed.), Encyclopaedia of Decorative Arts 1890-1940, Van Nostrand, New York, 1978, p. 199 Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, Glasgow, ref. GLAHA 41548 Note: Alexander Koch, organiser of the House for an Art Lover competition, was editor of 'Deutsche Kunst und Dekoration'. A major article appeared in the September 1902 issue featuring the Mackintoshes' contribution to the Turin exhibition. The cover design by Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh is closely related to her contemporaneous decorative panels in gesso. The straightforward lettering incorporated within the design is most probably her work.
