Original grey pictorial printed paper front cover for part 4 present, others unbound, uncut and unopened (part 8 with a small marginal repair, unevenly browned, some edges chipped, lightly dustsoiled, one or two spots); quarter morocco gilt folding box. Provenance : Kenyon Starling (bookplate). FIRST EDITION, a complete set with preliminaries issued with part 12. Presumed to be by the same author as Barnaby Budge, The Life and Adventures of Oliver Twiss, Mister Humfries' Clock, Nickelas Nicklebery, Pickwick in America!, The Post-Humourous Notes of the Pickwickian Club etc, all published by Edward Lloyd where Prest was a jobbing journalist. Prest also wrote The Pickwick Comic Almanac for 1838 as Sam Weller. Yale/Gimbel H57.
