DING YANYONG (1902-1978) Mandarin Ducks under Lotus Hanging scroll, ink and colour on paper 138 x 68.5 cm. (54 3/8 x 27 in.) Inscribed and signed, with two seals of the artist Dated winter, jiayin year (1974) Dedicated to Shaolun (Kong Shiu Loon, b. 1934) PROVENANCE : Lot 1055, 28 May 2007, Fine Chinese Modern Paintings, Christie’s Hong Kong. Note: The recipient of this painting is Kong Shiu Loon (b. 1934), who served as dean of Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Faculty of Education from 1972-1975. He worked with Ding Yanyong who was also teaching courses at the university and received several works from the artist directly.
