Hughenden Manor 23.XII.1879. Privater Brief an einen Earl of Oxford in Bath, den er zu einem Dinner mit dem Prinzen von Wales einlädt. "... The Prince of Wales, tired, I presume, of palaces & castles, has been pleased to express the wish to dine at my humble Hughenden on the 12th (Monday) of Jan ry & even to slumber in the atmosphere of the Chiltern Hills. I have told His Royal Highness that my roof is too limited to ask any but a very few friends to have the honor of meeting him, but the Prince & myself, both hope you may not find it inconvenient to be here on that day ... I hope H. R. H. will not be disappointed in his wish to see you. He will also see your portait, which is one of the greatest ornaments of my collection ...". - Nennt ihm eine bequeme Zugverbindung von Paddington nach Wycombe. - Gebrauchsspuren.
