Title: Document relating to a legal judgement in favor of Robert Treat Paine, awarding him £600 for being defrauded in payment of rent, apparently, signed by Paine on the back of the document Author: Paine, Robert Treat, Signer from Massachusetts Place: Bristol County, Mass. Publisher: Date: Feb. 11, 1771 Description: Partially printed document filled out in ink. 18.5x39 cm (7¼x15¼"), ornately matted and framed under plexiglass along with a portrait and an engraved plaque. Overall 42x80 cm (16½x31½"). Robert Treat Paine (1731-1814) was a Massachusetts lawyer and politician, a signer of the Declaration of Independence as a representative of Massachusetts. He served as the state's first attorney general, and as an associate justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, the state's highest court. Signed "Paine" on the back of the document. Due to the size and/or weight of this lot extra charges may apply. Lot Amendments Condition: Document with old folds, a few age spots; frame with some rubbing; very good. Item number: 244226
