Portrait frontispiece, 46 plates printed recto and verso of 23 leaves. Binding designed by J.Augoyat (successor to P. Affolter), finished by Adolphe Cuzin, dark-brown morocco, the covers with an elaborate geometric art-deco design of inlaid green (in 4 shades), purple, blue, light-brown, red, orange and cream morocco and gilt and blind-tooling, the flat-backed spine with inlaid red brown and green strips tooled in gilt and blind with a hexagonal gilt lettering-piece, red morocco doublures with a border of gilt fillets and inlaid green and blue morocco strips, red watered silk endleaves, original wrappers bound-in, g.e. Provenance : Colonel Daniel E.Sickles (armorial bookplate). A FINE REPRESENTATIVE EXAMPLE OF ART-DECO DESIGN, with echoes of contemporary stage-design. The edition limited to 1650 copies, this number 19 of 150 copies on vélin d'Arches .
