DU PINET, Antoine (circa 1520-1584)]. Taxes des Parties casuelles de la Boutique du Pape, en Latin & en François . Lyon: [Jean Saugrain], 1564. 8° (155 x 103mm). Woodcut vignette on title, final two blank leaves, ruled in red throughout. (Two leaves with marginal tears, some leaves slightly soiled, mostly in lower margin.) 18th-century French red morocco, the covers with gilt floral and scallop roll-tool border with garland cornerpieces, the spine with gilt scroll tooling and citron lettering piece (gilt slightly rubbed, upper cover scuffed), g.e. Provenance : 18th-century engraved armorial booklabel. A rare first edition of the French translation of the Taxae cancellariae apostolics (first printed in 1471) with a commentary by Du Pinet on the tariffs of the Catholic Church, particularly on indulgences.
