This early Infantry leather cartridge box with consignor's note saying box is for .69 caliber cartridges with buff Mexican-American War period leather strap with brass eagle breast plate. There is also a brass oval "US" plate on the cover with pre-Civil War maker's mark "R. Dingee, N. York." Accompanied by one tin insert. Condition: The condition of the box is overall good showing a lot of use and one inch of stitching torn on the rear left side.
