[Early Printing] Mexia, Pedro The Historie of all the Romane Emperors, Beginning with Caius Julius Caesar and successiuely ending with Rodulph the second now raigning... London: printed (by Felix Kingston) for Matthew Lowndes, 1604. First edition in English. Folio. (10), 1-890, (2) pp.; lacking initial blank leaf (A1). With engraved title-page, woodcut portraits, decorated initials, and printed shoulder notes. Old calf, stamped in blind, rubbed and worn, front cover detached but present; text trimmed with negligible losses to printing, trimmed close to a few rules and a few shoulder notes; title-page repaired with losses to engraving at top fore-edge, old crossed-out ownership signature on same, worming in bottom margin of signatures 4E and 5F, creasing, paper losses at edges, old ink scrawl and figure drawings on terminal blank, scattered spotting to text. STC 17861; ESTC S 114764. Pedro Mexia (1497-1551) was a Spanish Renaissance writer, humanist, and historian.
